New classrooms inspire creativity
During Term 1, the brand new multipurpose classrooms at the Junior School opened their doors to excited students and teachers. The building was purposefully designed to enhance learning and collaboration and is home to visual art, science and music classes, as well as individual music lessons.
The visual art rooms were designed with increased natural light and additional wash sinks in larger spaces, allowing students to spread out comfortably during their creative activities. Students and staff now benefit from greater space which inspires creativity while fostering focus in a calm environment.
“Both students and staff love the calm, beautiful atmosphere of the new space,” said Head of Visual Arts Prep-Year 4, Emily Fumi. “While the structure of our lessons and teaching approach has remained consistent, the new space ensures that all students now have full access to a dedicated and well-equipped art room. It is a welcoming and inspiring environment that enhances the experience of art making.”
In performing arts, there are now several additional instrumental music rooms and larger classrooms, with improved acoustics and increased storage for the wide range of instruments used by students and staff.
“The students are always excited about coming over to the new centre,” said Head of Performing Arts Prep-Year 4, Kyle Hackwill. “There instrumental rooms are lovely, airy and bright. In the music room, there is plenty of space to move around and accommodate the physical requirements of learning to play an instrument.”
It is inspiring to see how students and staff have embraced and value their time in the new building, where they have space to make the most of every opportunity to learn, grow and pursue their passions.
