In August, Head of Commerce, Mark Robson, is participating in Steps for Skye, during which he is committed to taking 15,000 steps per day, every day for the entire month. Steps for Skye is a community fitness and fundraising challenge which aims to raise awareness and much needed funds for medical research into Sanfilippo Syndrome, a terminal ultra-rare genetic disorder like dementia which effects fewer than 100 children in Australia.
Mark and Daeng’s daughter, Skye, was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome when she was 4 years old. In 2020, Teghan and Bree, who care for Skye Robson, rallied 15 walkers to each walk 15,000 steps per day for the entire month of August, kick-starting the Steps for Skye campaign. Last year, the campaign raised over $25,000 and, this year, their goal is to raise $50,000.
“We promised Skye love, happiness and quality of life when learning of her diagnosis, and that we would never give up on the hunt for a cure,” said Mark. “We join in on the Steps for Skye campaign because we know every step takes us closer to a cure and fulfilling our promise to our beautiful little girl”.
All proceeds raised by Steps for Skye are donated to the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation to further medical research and help find a cure.
