Clarendon’s Historic Senior Girls Soccer Derby

Last week marked a significant milestone for Ballarat Clarendon College as we hosted our first-ever Senior Girls Soccer Derby. This event saw over 30 students take to the field, representing two separate Clarendon teams in the BAS competition. Notably, Clarendon is the first school to enter two Senior Girls Soccer teams.

The derby was a vibrant display of Clarendon spirit. Both teams demonstrated great enthusiasm during the game, making it a truly memorable experience. The students not only cherished the chance to compete but also enjoyed spending quality time with their peers.

“We had a fun afternoon and it was a great experience for both teams,” said Co-Captain, Samantha (Year 12).

Captain, Harriet (Year 12) echoed this sentiment, “There was a strong sense of College spirit from both sides.”

The derby also provided a unique opportunity for players to reflect on their experiences and embraced new challenges. Emily (Year 12) noted the special atmosphere, “It was great fun playing another Clarendon team as there was a sense of unity and community during the game.”

Billie (Year 12) added, “I’ve never been a goalkeeper before. It was fun to give it a go!”

As we look forward to our next game against Loreto College tomorrow, we encourage the Clarendon community to come and support our students on the field. Their dedication and enthusiasm continue to make us proud and we are excited to see what the future holds for our growing soccer program.
