Last week we welcomed our new boarders and students to the school for Head Start in preparation for the 2023 school year.
Over the weekend, our boarding community participated in the annual Boarding House Activities Weekend, which is always a fantastic opportunity for the boarders to get to know each other and familiarise themselves with their new home-away-from-home.
Activities included the fluro-themed silent disco, an excursion to Xtreme Bounce and a movie night. The Y12 cohort also ran an afternoon of activities and games on the oval.
“The Boarding House Activities Weekend was a wonderful opportunity to welcome our new boarders into our boarding community,” said Head of Girls Boarding, Jess Macgowan. “I am so proud of all of our students for stepping outside their comfort zones and making the most of spending quality time with one another.”
On Sunday, boarders, day students and staff participated in the Federation University Run for a Cause. The event is the largest community fun run and walking event in Ballarat, with all proceeds being donated to the Ballarat Christmas Appeal.
“I chose to participate in Run for a Cause because it was a great way for me to give back to people who are less fortunate than myself, while expressing my appreciation for the local community which so often supports us boarders,” said 2023 Y12 student, Ellie Rickard.
Boarders chose to either volunteer their time to support the event or participate in the 5km or 10km walk or run.
“I loved running with my friends while being supported by so many Clarendon students and staff,” said Ellie. “Supporting Run for a Cause is so important to ensure that more people are able to celebrate Christmas with their friends and family.”
Well done to all members of the Clarendon community who participated in or supported Run for a Cause this year and welcome to all of our new students and families.
