Meet the Heads of Boarding
Head of Boys Boarding
Michael Searl
As an Old Collegian (2002) and boarder at Ballarat Clarendon College, I feel extremely fortunate to be the Head of Boys Boarding.
I joined the Clarendon and boarding community in Year 10 and immediately noticed the support and opportunities around me. Through this environment, I discovered what I wanted to do, who I wanted to be, and the values and culture of the school certainly shaped the person I am today.
I feel immense pride as I recount my time in the boarding house and while the school has changed incredibly since I was a student, the culture of striving to be the best we can be and continuing to learn is still evident as it was when I was a student.
As Head of Boys Boarding, my goal is to create an environment where each boarder feels valued and supported so they can achieve their best. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them grow and develop friendships while flourishing academically and personally during their time as a boarder.

Sarah McCleary
Education is a passion of mine and something that you could say is in my DNA with my father being Head of the Junior School and teaching at Clarendon for over 30 years.
As an Old Collegian (2006), I and my family have a long history with Ballarat Clarendon College which has now evolved to my role as Head of Girls Boarding.
Working alongside Michael and the other teaching and pastoral care team, I feel a deep responsibility to give back to this wonderful school community that shaped my career. My goal is to provide a comfortable environment for our boarders and prioritise their wellbeing.
At Clarendon, your child will have the chance to experience things they might never otherwise have had the opportunity to do. There are a vast array of resources, activities and opportunities available which I love seeing the boarders get immersed in.
Reflecting on my time as a student at Clarendon, I now realise how amazing the benefits were and look forward to providing such opportunities for the next generation of Clarendon boarders.
