The Board is the governing body of Ballarat Clarendon College and is responsible for the central governance of the School, providing strategic direction and overseeing performance. Sub committees of the Board include Audit and Risk Management, Finance, People and Culture and Property and Infrastructure.

Mark is a business and local Government executive and experienced non-executive Board Director. A Chief Executive with transferable leadership across many industry sectors with strong governance and Board directorship experience in the health, sport and educational sectors.
Mark’s son attended Ballarat Clarendon College. He joined the Board in October 2013 and was appointed Chair in 2022.
Fiona Whatley, Deputy Chair

Fiona studied Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne, after which she worked for Lake Physiotherapy, the North Ballarat Football Club and the Australian Team for the World University Games.
After starting a family, her interest grew in working within her own family’s manufacturing business, Springhill Farm, where, over the past 15 years, she has worked in many areas, and now oversees sales, strategy, risk management and people.
Fiona is an Old Collegian, completing her education at Ballarat Clarendon College in 1997. Her four children currently attend Clarendon. She has been a member of the Board since January 2016 and is currently Deputy Chair.
Michael Duffin

Having held senior leadership roles at IBM and Microsoft across the Asia-Pacific region, Michael brings over 25 years of IT and cyber security industry knowledge to the Board.
Michael has been involved in the Clarendon rowing program, including the role of President of the 1920 Club. He is also a life member of the 1920 Club.
Michael’s daughter graduated from Clarendon in 2022 and his son will complete year 12 in 2024. He joined the Board in January 2024.
Fiona May

Co-CEO of Essantis, producers of Australian grown plant-based food and beverage ingredients. Formerly known as Unigrain, Essantis is an all-Australian pioneer of oat cereal, pulse protein and oat milk products.
Prior to joining Essantis, Fiona worked as a Chartered Accountant for Andersen, Ernst & Young and Protiviti providing audit, risk and advisory services to a variety of Australian and global organisations.
Fiona is an Old Collegian, completing her education at Ballarat Clarendon College in 1998 and her two sons currently attend Clarendon. She joined the Board in January 2009.
Stuart Postlethwaite

Stuart is an experienced senior manager with a demonstrated 36-year history of working in the banking industry, developing strong customer relationship skills and often being viewed as a partner in client business decisions.
Skilled in interest rate risk management, banking, coaching, credit analysis and business strategy, Stuart is still actively involved directly in Agribusiness through the family farm near St Arnaud. He is passionate about supporting the businesses that keep Australia moving and keep Australians fed.
Three of Stuart’s four children have completed their education at Clarendon whilst his youngest daughter will complete Year 12 in 2025. Stuart joined the Board in March 2011.

James is a Ballarat-based commercial litigator and an accredited specialist in Workplace Relations.
James is an Old Collegian, completing his education at Ballarat Clarendon College in 2004. He joined the Board in January 2022.
Jock Selkirk

An experienced finance executive across a range of industries including manufacturing, construction, property development and financial services, Jock brings a valuable perspective on developing leadership and culture within both small and large businesses to create a competitive advantage and a sustainable business. He also brings strong governance and board skills.
Jock enjoys driving business turn-around through people and process and is passionate about supporting and developing others to fulfil their potential.
Jock’s two eldest children have completed their education at Clarendon, while his youngest son is a current student. He joined the Board in June 2018.
Jacqui Sewell

Jacqui is a professional senior marketer with expertise in change, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.
As part of the Experience Leadership Team at RMIT University, Jacqui is responsible for leading and executing the operating rhythm for Experience and managing significant programs of work across the global function. Prior to joining RMIT, she worked with a number of multinational organisations leading integrating teams during periods of transformational change and growth, including Andersen, PwC and Mercer.
Jacqui is an Old Collegian, completing her education at Ballarat Clarendon College in 1992 and is a current parent. She joined the Board in January 2018.
David Shepherd OAM

David was Principal of Ballarat Clarendon College for 27 years. Prior to this appointment in 1997, David held various senior appointments at Scotch College Adelaide, Wesley College Melbourne and Bedford School in the United Kingdom.
In 2022, David received an Order of Australia Medal for his services to secondary education.
David was also awarded the Senior Educator of the Year by the Australian College of Educators Ballarat Branch in 2011 and the John Laing Professional Development Award from the Principals Australia Institute in 2012.
David also captained the Melbourne Cricket Club, played First Class cricket for Victoria and played AFL football for the St Kilda Football Club. He is a past parent and joined the Board in February 2008.
Laura van Dyk

Laura has a background in law and planning, working in Melbourne for many years as solicitor for firms Maddocks and Harwood Andrews and in London for local government before returning home to Ballarat in 2014. She now works in communications alongside husband Joseph in their property development business, Hygge Property.
Laura is an Old Collegian, completing her education at Ballarat Clarendon College in 2002 and is now a current parent with three children at the Junior School. She joined the Board in January 2018.
Belinda Walton

Belinda worked in Melbourne and London with Ernst & Young before returning to Ballarat in 1996 to join the family business, Haymes Paint. She is now Director and Company Secretary at Haymes Paint where she works alongside her husband, Rod, and brothers Matt and Tim, who are also Old Collegians.
Belinda completed her education at Ballarat Clarendon College in 1986 and is also a past parent. She joined the Board in July 2010.
