Meet Jane Martin

Position at Clarendon: Middle School Administrator

How long have you been working at Clarendon for?
I started working in the Middle School at Clarendon in 2015.

What does your current role entail?
My current role involves looking after the 568 students in the Middle School, liaising with parents, teachers and other staff to facilitate the smooth running of the Middle School. I manage all enquiries and queries received over the counter, over the telephone and through the door.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Clarendon?
What I enjoy most about my role is the variety and breadth of tasks. I work mainly in a service role so the students make every day different for me! The students are great. They are always grateful and supportive, as are their parents. There is certainly a sense of community within the Middle School amongst students, families and staff.

Aside from your role in the Middle School, have you taken part in any other activities with the students?
I usually take part in all of the Middle School activities including the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, Pancake Day and other House competitions. This year, the Clarendon equestrian community came together and invited me to be a mentor of their team. We hosted an Equestrian Intensive at Victoria Park and I enjoyed taking my horse, Ben, along to spend some time with the students and their horses. It was a great opportunity to get to know one another and spend some time doing team building activities.

What else do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy competing in show jumping and dressage equestrian competitions on weekends. We also recently welcomed a new addition to the family, Winnie, the Border Collie, who keeps me very busy.
