Emotion is a mysterious thing!! One can have “steely resolve” and character and look to resist all efforts to be emotional and then all of a sudden this mysterious feeling hits you and hits you hard. If I asked my 144 Year 12 students last week whether they wanted to be emotional in front of 750 people, I know what they would say – “No way, and I will be able to hold it together.”

Teaching through the decades….

I began teaching in 1970. Do the sums and you will soon realise that I should be put out to pasture soon, if not sent to a taxidermist. I was educated in the UK and much to my parents chagrin I failed the 11+, as it was known in those days. My father didn’t recognise my existence for at least a month. I was a certainty for the local Grammar School, but on the day of the exam I was so nervous, I just mucked it up.

Small Business week at Clarendon

The 2011 Year 10 Commerce Small Business Week has drawn to another successful close, under a gloriously sunny Friday afternoon. During the week the 86 students studying Commerce in Year 10 planned, organised and ran a small-business activity.
