Co-curricular at Clarendon

Learning in every context drives the school’s cocurricular program and its community-based projects, both within the state and internationally. Every context that a student is exposed to is a chance to build their sense of personal identity, to foster positive and meaningful relationships and to develop self-management at both a practical and emotional level.

The co-curricular program at Ballarat Clarendon College is extensive offering students the opportunity to participate in over 70 options including competitive sporting options, performing arts and other physical activity – from debating, chess, robotics and programming to group spin, photography, aerobics, and grammar, glee and art clubs. Students may choose to join the contemporary big band or the swim squad or the rowing crews or the girls and boys football or netball teams.

Beyond the outdoor education experiences at every year level, culminating in the Year 9 residential program, senior students are offered opportunities to travel, work and study overseas. Students in Years 10 and 11 are encouraged to apply for the National Student Leadership Conference program at the University of California, Berkeley. Cultural experiences are available with sister schools in Germany and Japan as well as a humanitarian-based program in rural Cambodia. Younger students are also given the chance to travel through participation in the World Scholar’s Cup, which has taken students to Yale, Vietnam and Bangkok.
