RowingRowing seeks to develop each student’s individual skills and strengths in a supportive and positive environment, providing the opportunity for personal development and leadership. The program operates primarily from the KD Baird Boatshed on the shore of Lake Wendouree. In order to operate the program each year we are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who coach our students. Students and coaches interact to assist students’ physical and emotional development. Crews compete in the annual Head of the Lake Regatta, held in first term, racing against other BAS Schools. Crews also compete in regattas conducted by Rowing Victoria and may compete at venues such as Lake Wendouree, Nagambie Lakes and the Barwon River. The 1920 Club is the parents’ support group for the rowing program. The 1920 Club is involved in fundraising, catering and conducting events in order to support the aims of the rowing program. The 1920 Club is named after the year in which Ballarat College won its first Head of the Lake title. It meets on the first Monday of every month at the KD Baird Boatshed at 8pm.
