LOTE

BCC offers German and Japanese at Years 7 and 8 after which the student may elect to take this study up to VCE level.

Why study a LOTE (Language other than English)?

By studying a LOTE students become culturally and linguistically aware of not only another language and its people, but also more aware of their own cultural identity and how their own language functions.

BCC LOTE students may participate in:    

• sister-school relationships in Japan and Germany
• two-way student exchanges
• state competitions for poetry and other speaking presentations
• small-group conversation classes with native-speaker assistants
• excursions to restaurants and cultural events
• film days
• cultural demonstrations.
