middle school leaders…

In 2012, seven students have been appointed to be Middle School Student Leaders. Last Friday, we held a Leadership Assembly where they were officially inducted to their positions. Three of these students, Sam Hayden, Ellen Robertson and Meg Collins are currently on King Island. The other four, James Davidson, Isabella McKay, Sarah Robinson and Emerson Cross, spoke to the assembly and gave us their thoughts on being Leaders and role models.

I graduated from Ballarat Clarendon College in 2008 with an ENTER (final year) score of 98.85 (highest ranking is 99.95) and a Premier’s Award for my study score of 50 (perfect score) in Geography. I am a strong believer in making the most of your time at school and so I was Visual Arts Leader during Year 12 and was awarded Subject Prizes in Literature, Geography and Art as well as the Principal’s Special Prize.

In grade 6, my aspiration was to be the principal clarinettist of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Fast forward six years, and I was a graduate of Ballarat Clarendon College, and on a walk around Lake Wendouree with my now husband. I was carefully breaking the news that I was planning to travel the world as a professional musician and that we should go our separate ways.

Graduation…

Emotion is a mysterious thing!! One can have “steely resolve” and character and look to resist all efforts to be emotional and then all of a sudden this mysterious feeling hits you and hits you hard. If I asked my 144 Year 12 students last week whether they wanted to be emotional in front of 750 people, I know what they would say – “No way, and I will be able to hold it together.”
