Aims

The Ballarat Clarendon College sport program aims to enhance students' education by using sport and physical activity as vehicles for learning.

We aim to provide equal opportunity for students to:

  • experience excellent coaching and dynamic programs, which encourage students to adopt positive, long-term attitudes and behaviours towards physical activity
  • experience enjoyment, fun and a measure of success for all through quality involvement across a diverse range of sporting activities
  • develop knowledge, skills, tactics, strategies, behaviour and fitness specific to particular sports so students can experience success through enjoyable and quality participation in those sports
  • encourage participation by all students in a wide variety of sporting activities appropriate to their physical, mental, social, emotional and skill development
  • contribute, through quality participation, to the social, cognitive, physical and emotional aspects of each individual's development
  • develop knowledge, values, skills and attitudes such as relatedness, altruism, cooperation, tolerance, assertiveness, self-discipline, resilience, and respect for others
  • maximise student potential, using knowledge and skills in an appropriate sporting environment
  • experience quality officiating and provide students with the opportunity to participate in the role of the official.

It is our aim to make sporting experiences at College positive and worthwhile. It is important students learn from their involvement in our sport program, whether it be about the benefits of an active lifestyle, the skills and tactics of their chosen sport or the importance of respecting others. The most important thing is that students enjoy their sporting experience.
